Green Bean Sources

Sweet Maria's http://www.sweetmarias.com/

Sweet Maria’s specializes in premium green coffees, roasting equipment and supplies for the home roaster. They have large selection of green coffees and an extensive on-line library of information regarding home roasting. Sweet Maria’s concentrates on estate and single origin coffees. Tom writes very descriptive cupping reviews that include roasting suggestions for all their green coffees. The local roasters in my area will sell green coffee about 15% below their one pound rate and are not interested in bulk discounts, or offer small discounts for bulk purchases. The quality of the coffee from the local roasters has been very good to down right poor. Sweet Maria’s bulk prices including the UPS shipping costs from California to Pennsylvania are significantly lower than any prices I can get for green coffee from the local roasters. The quality of Sweet Maria’s coffee is very good to outstanding. I give them five stars.

The Coffee Project http://www.coffeeproject.com/

The Coffee Project offers green beans, roasting equipment and supplies for home roasting. They have a substantial discount for bulk amounts of 24 lbs. The descriptions of their coffees can be rather vague, often more information about the history or region than the cup of the coffee. I have purchased coffee from this company and found the quality of the coffee to very good. They offer live coffee plants if anyone wants to grow a coffee tree at home. The Coffee Project has a warehouse in Wisconsin and one on the West Coast, this helps reduce the time and cost of shipping.

Coffee Bean Coral http://www.coffeebeancorral.com/

Another popular green bean, and roasting supply web site, they offer an extensive selection of green beans, and an on line guide to the coffee’s characteristics. The Coffee Bean Coral sells the Variac voltage regulator for use with hot air poppers and electric home roasters. The Variac allows the user to set the desired voltage output and maintains the voltage to allow more consistent results with the home coffee roasters. Low voltage and fluctuations can greatly effect the roasting profiles of home coffee roasters, common on residential power grids. They have warehouses in Arizona, and Mississippi.
